With regard to the implementation of our sustainable logistics strategy, we emphasize packaging design and recycling to reduce waste of resources. We also endeavor to improve the load rates and combine transportation routes to reduce the environmental impact from logistical activities along the value chain. We also aim to attain the shared objective of sustainable logistics and low-emission transportation by developing new transportation modes with less CO2 emissions.

Green Packaging

The panel industry’s upstream and downstream component sets are manifold. The transportation of used-up components and packaging cost amount to several billion Taiwan dollars, and the environmental impacts of CO2 are enormous. On top of that, if packaging waste is not effectively treated, it also causes environmental pollution.

The increasing variety of products in the market requires display panels to be cut in many different shapes and sizes. Meanwhile, shortened product life cycles are making customized packaging materials fall obsolete at a faster rate, particularly for glass substrate. Packaging boxes for discontinued glass substrate are left to occupy large inventory space, while packaging materials for new models are added each year. As a result, unused packaging materials start to build up in the warehouse. Safety and interchangeability have always been two important issues in industrial packaging, and the new "adjustable cushion" design was made specifically to address this problem.

The multiplication in sizes of LCD glass panels is an inevitable trend, resulting in a large number of leftover glass transport cases from previous models. The design of movable cushion leaves fixed card slots at the bottom and the cap of the case and is adjustable in size both horizontally and vertically, even if one product has been pulled out of the market, by changing the position of stopper block, the case can be used by other types of new models, reaching the goal of case reuse, thus reducing costs for developing new mold. Cushion materials are selected with two different expansion ratio feature. The low expansion ratio is for attaching the cushion, and the high expansion ratio increases protection. The cushion may be attached to any position using the magazines, eliminating the need for wall support and reduce material cost. The panel size can also be customized to increase usability and reduce the development of new packaging material.

Easy Locked Cushion is an easy-to-use protective packaging for fragile TFT-LCD panel glass.
Inspired by ancient China's wooden door latch, the design includes a foamed buffer lock and ABS / Rubber compound bumper bar. To open it, simply remove the buffer lock and horizontally push the bumper bar. This facilitates pack/unpack operations and avoids COF damage to the glass edges. When assembled, the bumper bar serves as a protective cushion and the gear serves as a seat belt-like interlocking structure. Sudden shocks that cause glass breakage during delivery is thus avoided. Benefits of the new design are

• 50% capacity increase for 40-ft cargo container use
• 65% reduction in packaging material per case body
