Amy Ku, Chief Sustainability Officer, made it to CSRWorks’ list of Asia's Top Sustainability Superwomen for her leadership in AUO’s sustainable development

AU Optronics Corp. ("AUO" or the "Company") today announced its inclusion in Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the 4th year in a row, with the company’s commitment to supporting gender equality being recognized once again. AUO’s efforts in gender equality is also backed by its Chief Sustainability Officer Amy Ku for having made it to CSRWorks’ list of Asia's Top Sustainability Superwomen. As the only winner from Taiwan among this year’s 13 winners, Ku has been acknowledged for her long-term contribution to AUO’s sustainable development and leadership from the global point of view.

The Bloomberg GEI, issued by Bloomberg, select its constituents each year based on the company’s level of disclosure and overall performance across five dimensions: female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, sexual harassment policies, and pro-women brand. Through measurement and transparency, 380 companies from 44 countries and regions with distinguished performance in gender equality are selected worldwide. AUO has led the industry standard and set an example to perform exceptionally across all dimensions and enhance the management and execution of its overall gender equality policy and sustainable development.

To better direct corporate sustainability development, AUO established a dedicated CSR unit and the position of Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) in 2018. Led by CSO Amy Ku, the CSR unit aims to visualize the broad sustainability vision throughout the company from various perspectives. Based on United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), AUO defined three EPS (Environment, People and Society) themes focusing on environmental sustainability, inclusive growth and agile innovation to increase awareness of environmental issues and social inclusion and thus developed the 2025 targets. AUO CSO Amy Ku was acknowledged by CSRWorks in its list of Asia's Top Sustainability Superwomen 2020. Being the only winner from Taiwan out of 13 awarded female leaders from 7 countries, this represents a global recognition of her persistent endeavors in AUO’s sustainable development and female leadership. The affirmation also represents AUO’s continual efforts in building a friendly workplace with gender equality and equal opportunity on a foundation of trust, integrity and transparency. As of 2020, AUO’s ratio of female managers has risen to nearly 28% with great support in women’s career building.

Within the company, AUO has established a fair and objective performance management system, and sexual harassment prevention measures with a secure grievance procedure to provide independent investigations and protect the privacy and rights of victims. In addition, AUO continues to help disadvantaged female and victims of domestic violence and online harassment through periodical donations to various NPOs. Externally AUO also focus on community engagement around various corporate sites, investing resources and volunteering in community services. Suppliers and partners are also invited to join force on hiring the disadvantaged who’s seeking second career, amplifying corporate influence and pro-actively realizing the company core values of social care to collectively make the world a better place.
