AUO Recognized with Dual Leadership Ratings by CDP for Climate and Water Stewardship
AUO has been awarded Leadership ratings in two key categories by the globally recognized Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in 2024: an A rating in Climate Change and an A- rating in Water Security. These honors reflect AUO’s outstanding performance in environmental governance and its proactive approach to climate resilience and water resource management. The CDP Awards Ceremony was held today in Taiwan, where AUO was formally recognized for its achievements.
As one of Taiwan’s earliest participants in CDP disclosures, AUO began reporting in 2007 and has since institutionalized its climate governance practices. In 2010, AUO launched a product carbon footprint management system, integrating life cycle assessment (LCA) data to enhance real-time carbon tracking and accelerate ISO 14067 verification.
In 2016, AUO introduced an internal carbon pricing mechanism, aligning operational decisions with carbon costs. The company has continuously adjusted its pricing to reflect rising green energy expenses, driving energy-saving initiatives that resulted in a 4.72% electricity savings rate in 2024—well above regulatory requirements.
AUO has also proactively addressed Scope 3 emissions, adopting the GHG Protocol’s value chain standards since 2010. By 2024, AUO had completed calculations across all 15 Scope 3 categories, laying a solid foundation for value chain carbon management.
In water stewardship, AUO implemented a comprehensive policy covering efficiency, recycling, and pollution prevention. All sites have adopted ISO 46001, achieving a 95% recycling rate and saving 270,000 cubic meters of water daily—reducing reliance on natural sources and enhancing operational resilience.
To strengthen supply chain transparency, AUO joined the CDP Supply Chain Membership in 2024, encouraging suppliers to disclose carbon data and reinforcing vertical integration across the value chain.
These CDP recognitions affirm AUO’s long-term sustainability efforts and its leadership in the net-zero era. Moving forward, AUO will continue collaborating with global partners to build a low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
